The Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s Children and Youth Special Health Care Needs program received a three-year grant of $900,000 from the U.S. Department of Health to start a program focused on youth with special health care needs and their families.

The grant will help pay for the “Systems In Sync” program, which provides education to help youth with disabilities transition to adulthood.

“This grant will work to strengthen partnerships between youth, families and service providers,” said Roderick Bremby, Secretary of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

The project includes provisions for information-sharing across the state. The department will work with the University of Kansas Center on Developmental Disabilities on the project.
