“A Toast for the Children,” a fundraising event for Crittenton Children’s Center, will take place Thursday, Oct. 1.
Crittenton Children’s Center is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative behavioral health services to children and their families. It has served the Kansas City area for more than 113 years and provides inpatient hospitalization and residential treatment for children and adolescents. In 2008, the center served more than 2,500 children and adolescents.

Solace House and Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care will hold a benefit golf tournament on Monday, Oct. 5.
The “On the Upswing” golf tournament will feature an 18-hole scramble, a silent auction, contests and prizes. Proceeds will go to Solace House, Kansas City’s only grief resource center for children and their families.

St. John Hospital, Leavenworth, Kan., named Cathy Menninga, RN, BSN, MBA, as director of inpatient and outpatient services.
Menninga has more than 25 years of nursing and nursing management experience. She most recently worked as director of emergency services at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Mo. She served as nurse manager of North Kansas City Hospital’s emergency services in North Kansas City, Mo., for more than 15 years.

Truman Medical Center, or TMC, will sponsor its fourth annual Evening Under the Stars Saturday, Aug. 22.
The event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in the main lobby atrium of TMC Lakewood, 7900 Lee’s Summit Road.
